QISSAH

Respectful visual handling of sacred figures

Handling sacred figures visually is a serious responsibility in Hussaini production. This guide explains the principles QISSAH follows to preserve sanctity: symbol and suggestion instead of depiction, without any claim to religious authority.

The principle: suggestion, not depiction

Never depict the faces of the infallibles or sacred figures. Convey presence through light, shadow, distance, symbol, and indirect framing.

A deliberate absence of the face can be more eloquent than any depiction; it preserves dignity and leaves room for conscience.

Respectful visual tools

Use light as a symbol of presence, shadow for solemnity, and surrounding elements (the banner, the horse, the desert) to tell the story without embodying the person.

Keep modesty in every other human element in the scene.

Limits you do not cross

QISSAH claims no religious authority and issues no rulings. When in doubt, return to qualified scholars within your own marjaʿiyya.

Avoid sensation or spectacle at the expense of dignity; the goal is to serve the message, not to show off technical ability.
